Can I still get cervical cancer after the HPV vaccine?
The HPV vaccine greatly lowers risk but does not cover every HPV type, so screening is still important after vaccination.
The vaccine protects against the HPV types responsible for most cervical cancers, but not all of them.
For this reason, vaccinated women should continue routine screening as advised.
Vaccination plus screening together offer the strongest protection.
