Can HPV be treated?
There is no medicine that cures the HPV virus itself, but most infections clear on their own and the changes it causes can be treated and monitored.
HPV (human papillomavirus) is very common and, in most people, the immune system clears the infection within one to two years without any treatment.
While the virus itself has no direct cure, the cell changes it can cause — such as genital warts or abnormal cervical cells — can be treated effectively when found early.
