Is spotting between periods normal?

Light spotting can be harmless, but frequent or unexplained spotting between periods should be evaluated by a doctor.

Spotting can occur with ovulation, hormonal contraceptives or minor hormonal shifts.

Recurring spotting, or spotting with pain or after sex, deserves a check-up to rule out other causes.

A short consultation can identify whether it needs treatment.
