Is bleeding after intercourse serious?

Occasional light bleeding after intercourse is often harmless, but repeated or unexplained bleeding should always be evaluated.

Bleeding after intercourse can have simple causes such as dryness or minor irritation, but it is an important symptom that should not be ignored.

Repeated post-coital bleeding can sometimes signal cervical inflammation, infection or cell changes that screening can identify.

If you notice bleeding after sex more than once, book a check-up so the cause can be found and addressed early.
